Where the work comes from
TSR Wireless. Launched the Florida market.
Nextel. Rebuilt the North Florida market from about 40% of plan to number one in the country.
ADP TotalChoice. Part of the first cloud payroll at scale.
Traq Wireless. Reestablished growth for future exit. The company later merged with Tangoe.
Workiva. On the Founding Sales Team, starting from zero customers, selling SEC and financial reporting. Four years in, he was promoted to launch private company reporting, stood that team up and ran it from pre-IPO through the public company. Later he worked mid-market financial services.
Smartsheet. Stood up a Global 2000 key accounts motion in the Southeast. It failed, and he keeps that lesson in the room.
Alpha FMC. Turned around the reporting practice.
What he does now
Founders Ramp works with founders of B2B software companies who still close the deals themselves. The work is the core sale: who buys, why now, what the first call sounds like, and how to inspect a deal once there is a first sales hire.
What he writes here
- The blog, on founder-led sales and first deals.
- Questions founders ask, with short answers.
- First Sales Hire Tracker, a weekly list of startups that posted their first sales job.
- First hire payback calculator.
- Newsroom, daily sales news for founders.
